
Memorial Day 2010
The Society entered a 1912 Maxwell into the parade, thanks to the courtesy of Dale and Cheryl Mueller. Elizabeth Porterfield and Grace Murphy distributed packets of vintage candies as the car moved along the parade route.

Park Ridge in 1910
On May 26th Pete Malone returned to Park Ridge to present a City Centennial speaking program on behalf of the Society. Many Members and residents came to the Summit of Uptown to hear the grandson of William Malone talk of the life and times in our community 100 years ago.

Albert Buchheit Day, May 24
We celebrated the memory of our first mayor, dentist Albert Buchheit, elected 100 years ago to the day. Visitors to Hodges Park enjoyed a ‘view of history’ tour, including a walk by Dr. Buchheit’s home and office building, poster-sized images of Dr. Buchheit’s life and times, and historical displays in City Hall.

Presentation at Field School, May 4
Leo Rizzetto presented a demonstration of the history and science of telephony, household illumination, mechanical toys and early talking machines. Over 100 second graders and their five teachers were present. Jeff Caudill and Paul Adlaf assisted with a separate overview of Park Ridge history in this City Centennial year.

2009 Annual Meeting at the Park Ridge Country Club
Sixty-two Members and guests attended our Annual Meeting on Sunday, October 18th at the Park Ridge Country Club. Our speaker Milt Nelson presented an informative program on Park Ridge history, 1832 to present. Thanks to Trustee Lauren Maloney for making the arrangements for our Annual Meeting.

Pat and Bruce Thoms (center), with Society Members Tom Zima (l) and Brian Lazzaro (r). Pat traces her family history to Evan Jones, early pioneer in this area, and is holding his Pew Deed issued by the Brickton Episcopal Methodist Church in October, 1859. Thanks to Pat for donating this important artifact to the Historical Society.
